Build on skills learned during your Beginner’s Crochet – 1 class and venture into slightly more challenging projects during this 6 week course starting on Wednesday 18th March.
What will I learn?
During the course we’ll complete a hat, a granny square project bag and an amigurumi project (a little animal toy). It’ll be a challenge but I’m sure you’ll be up to it! Be warned though there will be lots of homework!
We’ll explore some of the more advanced techniques you’ll need to be able to tackle these projects on your own and of course practice reading patterns in both UK terms and US terms.
Any Entry Requirements?
You don’t have to have completed the Lucy Wagtail Beginners Crochet course to take part, but if you’re new to Lucy Wagtail’s Crafty Classes, then you should have a knowledge of the five basic crochet stitches to take part i.e. chain, slip stitch, double crochet, half treble and treble.
It would be preferred if you can read a pattern to a beginners standard but this is flexible and we can probably work around it if you’re a bit rusty or not too familiar with pattern reading.
What will I need to bring?
I will assume that you have your own crochet kit for this course. I’m afraid wool is not included in the price of the course but I encourage you to speak to Maggie at Magpie Wool and Crafts who is familiar with the wool that you will need to complete the projects.
If you would like to use up wool that you already have here is a list of requirements:
- 150g of Aran
- 3, 4 or 5 colours of double knitting (at least 50g each ball) (depending on your preference of range of colours.
- 100g of green dk wool, about 25g each of blue dk and white dk
You can also order any wool that you don’t already have from Maggie and Magpie Wool and Crafts. (psst!… there’s a sale on!)
