Make your own gorgeous Harris Tweed Lampshade at home with this DIY lampshade making craft kit. This Scottish gift is perfect for birthdays or house warming teamed with a bottle of their favourite craft gin or malt whisky.
The craft kit provides everything you need for making a 20cm (8in) or 25cm (9 1/2in) lampshade and, by adding a bottle lamp adaptor to your basket, you could make a Harris Tweed Gin Bottle Lamp or Whisky Bottle Lamp. The bottle adaptor and bottle are not included in this kit.
Your kit comes complete with a panel of Harris Tweed cloth of your choice together with authentication label ready for attaching providing the most important finishing touch.
This kit is for the teal herringbone Harris Tweed option but other options are available. Take a look at my new Tweed gallery for more options. Still don’t see what you want? Drop me line and we can have a chat.
Here’s what’s included in your kit but don’t forget to add a bottle adaptor to your basket if you’d like to make a bottle lamp!:
– Harris Tweed panel of a good size for your project in teal herringbone
– a fire retardant pvc panel hand cut to the optimum size for making Harris Tweed lampshades
– double sided sticky tape
– a plastic rolled edge tool
– full instructions on how to make your lampshade (including exclusive Lucy’s Lampshade Making Tips!)
– powder coated steel rings
Make it a Gift
The Harris Tweed Lampshade Making kit comes in a pink presentation box wrapped in tissue paper so is pretty enough to give as a gift but please let me know if you’d like to give it as a present and I’ll wrap it up to keep the outside pretty.
About Harris Tweed
Harris Tweed, the iconic cloth exclusively made on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Pure virgin wool is dyed prior to being woven by hand on traditional looms. The cloth is gorgeous in both its vibrant colours and its texture. Only tweed woven on the Scottish Island of Harris can legally bear the Harris Tweed authenticity label.
