I was recently lucky enough to be asked by the owners of Assynt House, Evanton Ross-shire if I would be able to refurbish two large shades for their lamps.
Assynt House is an old country house, in Ross-shire, lovingly restored by its current owners and is available for hiring for events and weddings.
The brief was to produce two lined shades in a cream colour. Beginning by deconstructing the original shades, I cleaned the existing frames (which were American ½” fittings used with harps) and prepared double sided laminated for the sides by careful measurement and scoring. The lining fabric was then sprayed with a fire retardant proofing spray and the fabrics adhered to the double sided PVC.
What a Result!
After affixing the new backing to the frames, the freshly refurbished lampshades were returned to their owners. I think they were happy with the results we know I was!
